Žilina-Rosina

Saint Catherine’s  Church

The disposition

In the spring 2007 a general repair is planned. It should be finished in the autumn 2007. The organ will be taken apart and renewed in the Mr Marián Muška´s workshop (the source – the local priest Rašovec). The aeoline in the 2nd manual will be exchanged for a 2 ´ baroque register.

The organ is in a very bad condition. It should be thrown away and substituted by a new pipe one. The organologist Mr Mayer has said that it is a lost organ from Prievidza ( I will find out details when talking to Mr Muška). When I was starting to play the organ (I was 18), it was in a very bad condition then, it called for reparation.

The organ was driven from the parish church. The organ player Mr Michalko collected money because the stingy priest was not able to provide money for a new organ. He collected the money during about 1-month absence of the priest. Local people liked the organ player and they gave him how much he needed. It was a chance that at the same time the organ in the parish church in Žilina was exchanged. The masters who were building the new organ in Žilina took the organ apart and then they repaired it directly at Rosina. Otherwise it would have been thrown away. In fact Mr Michalko was forced to do this because the organ he was playing was not sufficient enough. When the blower was in operation, it was heard more than the organ itself. The organ player had some more money at his disposition so he had electrical lighting installed to the choir to see the score. The stingy priest was surprised very much how the organist had managed to organize it all so well. When he had seen the electric bulb on the choir, he had the electricity installed into the church as well.

The source: Pavol Holeša, the organ player Mr Michalko told directly him about it.
