Holy Angelic Mary’s Chapel (Charity House of School Sisters of the Saint Francisco’s 3rd Order)

11th August 2006

The activities of school sisters of the Saint Francisco’s Order started in Bohemia in 1888. At Chrudim, „Dívčí Pedagogium“ was established in 1898. A new organ was installed there in the following years (we have not managed to find out who and when built the new organ). „Dívčí pedagogium“ was taken in 1984, the organ was moved into the chapel of the Prague monastery in Radim street. The building of the monastery was bought on the 22nd April 1922, the Strahov abbot Metod Zavoral blessed the above mentioned chapel on the 13th September 1925. On the 14th September 1950 at six o’clock in the morning, the sisters were taken on a bus to the internation at Krnov. The building was taken and then it became the seat of three institutions: The District Office for Prague 6, Cultural Club and Primary School of Arts. The company „Rieger-Kloss“KRNOV carried out the general reconstruction of the organ. Since that time the mark of the organ has been opus 3564, the original organ is not mentioned either on the new table or on the organ console. We guess the prospect series of zinc principal pipes are original and wooden. The„Principálbas 16“has been added recently into the prospect. It is probable as well that the disposition of the instrument has been extended to a high degree. On the base of the law, the building was given back to the Order in 1991. But till 1994, it was the seat of „Klub na Petynce“ and till 2001 ZUŠ. The reconstructed building was blessed by the bishop František Lobkowicz on the 1st May 1995.

The organ works on the electro-pneumatic base. The exact disposition of the instrument:
